What can you gain from Membership?

Education and Professional Development Monthly Meetings IAAP chapters offer local education in the form of a monthly program, with topics ranging from education to 

informational. Leadership and teamwork opportunities, involvement on committees and assuming officer positions can assist you both personally and professionally. Seminars Many seminars and workshops for developing business and personal skills are available, both locally and nationally. Educational store Over 400 books, videos, cassettes and other materials on a wide variety of business subjects are available via catalog from IAAP Headquarters. The Louisville Chapter has its own Management Library.
Networking

Learn from your peers through local and international networking opportunities. Whether it's just exchanging ideas with someone else in your profession, or searching for a job change, you can do so by attending chapter meetings, or connecting into IAAP's home page on the internet.
Public Speaking and Presentation Skills
Gain confidence for organizing and making presentations through seminar support, and through participation in chapter activities.
Community Service
Increase your opportunities for community service through activities with fellow chapter members. These are both rewarding and fun.
Certified Professional Secretary® Program and Certified Administrative Professional® Program
The comprehensive CPS® Examination is the means to achieve this internationally recognized standard of proficiency. This exam tests on the subjects of Office Systems and Technology, Office Administration and Management. The CAP® Examination includes the three parts necessary for the CPS exam as well as an additional Part 4, Advanced Organizational Management. The attainment of the CPS and CAP rating provides opportunities for recognition, advancement, and college credit. How to Join
IAAP's definition for membership is "an individual who possesses a mastery of office skills, demonstrates the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercises initiative and judgment, and makes decisions within the scope of assigned authority." This definition encompasses those with titles such as office manager, administrative assistant, office technologist, secretary, and many others. Student and Associate memberships are also available.  Dues may be paid by credit card or check.
